Can't print invoices in QW2014 Home & Business.

I can print reports, but all invoices refuse to print. I can't print PDFs or paper versions of invoices. When I print to PDF, the only thing that prints is the address block for my business.

  • Here is what I have tried already.
  • I reset the Quicken printer settings (under Validate and Repair).
  • I removed the logo from my invoice.
  • I made sure the correct invoice form is selected. (It won't print using the default or the form I created.)
  • I believe I have the most recent update (Release R 6 (

This is a serious issue! I can't bill my clients.

    Logo was one of my issues, after i repaired fixed reset updated drivers and printers turning off and on computer with Quicken and HP for 4 hours - 

    remove logo and got to print

      If printing invoices worked in one version but doesn't work in another, something must have changed ... obviously ...

      Either a programmer changed something around in the code and now there's less space available on the invoice for the logo + company address block
      or something changed in the invoice setup ... between versions, did you change font style or font size for the company address?

      This whole things is pure guesswork on my side. There's no documentation that I can find. There's nothing in the Invoice Form Designer that will tell us, either.
      IMHO, the whole thing has some definite room for improvement.

      If you feel strongly enough about wanting Intuit to improve or change this in a future version of Quicken, please check out this website and either add your vote to an existing post on that subject matter or feel free to add your own.

      No matter how much we complain here on QLC, the word must reach the Quicken programmers. The Getsatisfaction website is said to be the way to get their attention.

        Have you tried resetting your printer definitions in Quicken and then redefined the printer?

        - Click File / File Operations / Validate and Repair. Click "Reset Quicken Printer Settings", then click OK.

        - Close and reopen Quicken (might not be necessary, but it can't hurt)

        - Perform Printer Setup / For Printing

        (a) Reports,

        (b) Checks


        (c) for Invoices [Quicken H&B, RPM users only].

        As "register" pointed out, the logo was the cause of his/her invoice print problems.
        There is only a fixed size block available to contain both the logo and the company address. If the logo is too big to fit or if there's too much text (or too large a font size chosen for the text) the invoice won't print properly (or at all).
        Try using a smaller logo.
        Try using less text in the Company Address.
        Try using a smaller font for the Company Address.
        Try a combination of all of the above.


        • I've followed all your steps UKR several times. It hasn't fixed the problem. I have been able to print my invoices with my logo and the text box since I first installed Quicken for Home & Business in 2007. The printing problem showed up with the last update to 2014.
        • tried everything ukr mentioned as well before just removing the logo and it worked for 2014 once the logo was gone, we shouldn't have to try a smaller logo or a different font or a combination of the above? it shouldn't be a mystery to print invoices from bookkeeping software.  Next someone will ask us to rub our tummies and pat are heads while clicking print :O

        Sorry to hear that ...

        There's a possibility that your Quicken software may not have been correctly updated all the way to R6 for all modules. Please go to this link: and click on the "Mondo Patch File" text to expand that section. In there you will find a link to download that Mondo Patch file. Download it, save it to disk. Now temporarily disable your Antivirus software for the entire duration of the next step. Run the patch file. This will replace all Quicken modules with a known consistent code level.

        Hopefully, it will resolve your issue.

        If you haven't tried this already, you should validate your Quicken data file. It may have become corrupted.

        Please run this procedure, skipping no steps:

        - Make a copy of your data file: Click File / File Operations / Copy.  Do not change any Copy Option settings. Save file under a new name in same folder as current Quicken data file.

        - Open the copied file in Quicken.

        - Click File / File Operations / Validate and Repair. Click Validate File, check to make sure the copied file is being validated, click OK. Let it run. Fix any errors logged as not repaired by Quicken.

        Now, with the just validated file still open, try your failing action again. If it works, keep using the new file and abandon the old one.

        • did all the validation stepd for my file - tech support at quicken told me my software is up to date - how do you check your revision level of all modules manually
        • There's no process that I know of to check revision levels manually.
          When in doubt, installing the Mondo Patch file over an existing installation is probably the best idea to get to a consistent revision level.
        • I followed every one of these steps. My HP printer doesn't receive the print job at all. When I print using Quicken PDF or Adobe PDF, I'm still printing an invoice that only has my business name and address on it. Everything else is missing. This is extremely frustrating as I'm having create invoices twice, one to bill my clients through PayPal and one in Quicken. I have clients who want a paper invoice and who don't have PayPal or email. I also just discovered I can't send invoices via email either.

          This is the first year I'm really sorry I upgraded my Quicken since my first purchase of the software in 1998.
        • Have you tried resetting your printer settings and then redefining them, as I posted a couple of days ago. That seems to cure most printer issues.
          Have you tried printing with a totally blank Company Address and no logo?
        • Yes, I did. It turns out that validation is skipping over something. When my 2013 file was upgraded to 2014, it corrupted some information. I don't have to print out invoices very often, so I just caught the problem a week ago. When I rolled my file back to a pre-Quicken for H&B 2014 file, the printer started working again.
