Online error cc-899

Problems with downloading accounts for about the past 10 days. It tells me your Quicken server is not available due scheduled maintenance. When will the problem to fixed?
  • The problem is the Quicken servers not your computer as they would like you to beleive! The shutdown coincides with the Governments announcement that the Banks are under web-based attacks. I am willing to bet you that some of those attacks came through Quicken Servers and that is why we have been locked out. You have to manually enter your data for now on. You cannot download account activity directly from your bank or connect through Quicken. In effect turning your Quicken Software into useless junk taking up space on your computer. None of the offered solutions work, they only trash your computer and fail to fix anything. The worst is they have you disable your protection software and open your computer to web-based attacks. CC-899 has locked customers out for over 14 days now, with not a word from Quicken on when the problem will be addressed and a solution found.
CC-899 is Time-Out, when you cannot complete an update session for any one (or more) of a number of reasons.  To determine the root cause, more information would be necessary:

* How many financial institutions are activated for Online Banking in your Quicken file?
* How many accounts with each FI?
* Are all of these accounts activated for the same connection type (Express Web Connect) OR is there a mixture of Direct Connect and Express Web Connect?
* Do you get the same CC-899 error when updating just one FI at a time?
* Do you get the same CC-899 when using the Account Actions > Update Now from the top of one account register?
* Has anything changed on your system, lately? (ex: new firewall, new router, new internet service provider, etc.)

See http://quicken.intuit.com/support/help/GEN83194.html for the general troubleshooting & possible solutions
  • * 5
    * 5
    * Mixture
    * all
    * yes
    * nothing changed
  • OK, if I'm reading your responses correctly, you have:

    5 different banks/credit unions/brokers (FIs);
    5 accounts at each of these FIs for a total of 25 activated accounts;
    All connecting with different connection methods (mixed DC and EWC);
    One Step Update (OSU) returns a time-out error for all of these accounts (would be a different error for the DC activated accounts);
    Live Refresh (Account Actions > Update Now) for 1 FI account also times out.

    If these statements are accurate, you most likely have an Internet Access issue with your Quicken.  This can be:

    Firewall not set to allow QW.exe to access the internet
    Aggressive anti-virus/anti-malware/anti-spamware application
    Internet Options > Security setting that is set to High
    Internet Options set to block cookies
    Parental controls
    Filtering Internet Service Provider (ISP) or a Site Advisor application/plugin that prevents you from accessing Not Rated sites

    Your Direct Connect activated accounts would be returning an OL error message, not a CC message; for Time Out situations, that would most likely be OL-297 but could be another error.

    Direct Connect goes directly to your financial institutions OFX servers, without passing through any Intuit servers, as an intermediary, and will take precedence over EWC account updates during an OSU session.  If that part of the connection fails, the EWC update steps up and takes over, connecting to Intuit servers to get your data.  The likelihood of both connections failing at the server-side is very slim (but not impossible); it's more likely that the failure is on the sending side (your system, etc.).

    When you use the Live Refresh for EWC accounts, this connection goes directly to the FI website/servers and by-passes Intuits aggregation servers to get immediate data.  If it's failing for multiple financial institutions, the likelihood of multiple FIs having website failure is very slim, and indicates the issue is with your system.
    What a line of crap! Even if you turn off all firewall protection software, Quicken will not connect with your bank. The problem is the Quicken servers, not your computer, the company thinks it can save face by blaming you and your computer, this way Quicken doesn't have to address the problem.The problem is with Quicken Servers not your computer. Trying to say you have too many accounts to check (by means of the update button) is another joke and a very lame excuse. More blaming you then telling the truth about the Quicken Servers being down and no One, that is no one can check using update button. They seem to be locked out of their own servers and unable to fix the problem. Which is why do one has a fix or CAN TELL YOU WHEN THE PROBLEM WILL BE RESOLVED!
    CC-899 means you cannot access your accounts since 12/14/2012.
      none of the posted solutions fix the problem. Do Not trash your computer the problem is with Quicken Servers not your computer. Quicken isn't being honest with you about their problem is all.
        I have been having the same error.    only 5 of my 8 accounts are erroring out.  3 are downloading just fine.  It is a quicken problem.  They are the worst at fixing these errors until enough people complain.  Send in your log files so they get enough complaints

        • PS the 12/14/2012 was about the last day mine quit working too.
        • I have had the same problem with several of my accounts, too.  What gives?
        • Sounds like the same time frame that my quickens program started to melfuction and only some FI's work and some don't, so what is the cure?
