Not remembering memorized payees

Q12 / Windows 8
Since upgrading to Q12 a few months ago, entering a payees name in the register no longer results in the payee name being memorized.  I've searched here and found references to checking the proper boxes in Preferences (did that) and running Validate/Repair (did that).  Still, new payees are not memorized.
Suggestions/guidance welcome.
  • I don't recall any verified problem with Q2012 auto-memorizing payees (my recollection is that Q2013 has such a problem, though I don't think it applies to all payees).

I just tested with Q2012 RPM R7 U.S. R7 (the most current U.S. release) and Quicken auto-memorized a new payee with no problem.

Try creating a New (test) Quicken file and testing auto-memorize there.
  • Are you using a category in your transaction?
There could still be a problem with your Memorized Payee List that the regular Validate doesn't fix.
Please try one or both of these:

- Click File / File Operations. Press and hold SHIFT+CTRL as you click Validate and Repair. The next popup should show "Supervalidate". Click Supervalidate File, click OK. Let it run. It might run for a while. Fix any errors logged as not repaired by Quicken.

Now see if memorizing a transaction works.

- Delete all entries from the Memorized Payee List.

Memorize an existing transaction.

See if, over time, the list builds with every new transaction you enter.

  • Supervalidate didn't help.
Created new Quicken file.  Memorizing payee works.
I hope there's a way to save payees before I delete then all.
