Upgraded to Windows 8, reloaded Quicken 2010, but now my backups will not load.

I just upgraded to Windows 8, had to reinstall Quicken 2010 Premier Release R10. So far so good. But when I try to load one of my previous QDF backups, I get the error message "Cannot open file - the QDF file is from a later version of Quicken." I downloaded the version available on the Quicken site, which I had previously bought.
    When you installed the 2010 version, did you allow it to get all of the patch updates during the installation? You might need to install a mondo-patch to get everything registered properly http://quicken.intuit.com/support/help/patching/message-when-updating-quicken--update-was-not-complete/GEN82798.html

    FYI, Quicken 2010 has not been tested on Windows 8, so we have no idea how it will perform. The only versions known to function on Windows 8 (those we've tested) are 2012 and the soon-to-be-released 2013. You may get unexpected results, although (personally) I wouldn't expect there to be much of a difference in performance in Quicken installed on Windows 8 vs. Windows 7.
    • Thanks - I tried the Mondo patch but the system said I was already up to date on the R10 Release. Is there a way to roll back or roll forward the Quicken 2010 release so that it matches my backups? It should be the same version so not sure why I am getting the error. Thanks again.
    • Could you possibly have upgraded Quicken to a later version and forgotten?  One user had that issue when it turned out his wife had upgraded and he had forgotten that she had.
